Young designer
Zoë Jordan
had the honour of
opening London Fashion Week this season, and what
a way to kick-start the week. The ex-architecture
student drew inspiration from her roots in a collection
inspired by post-modernist structures with Rome’s
Duomo featuring in the graphic prints. With separates
forming the cornerstone for this collection, Jordan
produced sharp silhouettes which were polished,
professional and very on trend. Flashes of orange, pink
and metallic added edge to a minimalist collection,
which showed Jordan at her best in the contrasting
masculine overcoats and evening wear.
New generation knitwear designer
Lucas
Nascimento
presented a thoughtful yet simplistic
collection for AW13. In contrast to his space themed
spring/summer collection, the Brazilian born designer
ditched the planet sweaters for a more refined
autumnal look. Like many other designers this season,
Nascimento featured the sixties staple roll neck
jumper, overlaid with sleeveless round-neck dresses
and pull on tops. Despite a more quiet approach,
unity can still be seen between this offering and his
previous collection in the futuristic approach with the
addition of leather and cold space-like colours of blue
and grey. The padded headbands worn backwards to
give the appearance of headphones completed this
contemporary look.
