STK London, which opened in

September last year, is the creation of

high-end hospitality company, The One

Group and located on the ground floor of

the ME London hotel. It sits on the corner

of the Strand and Aldwych, opposite One

Aldwych Hotel, and is a few minutes’

walk from Somerset House and the many

theatres around the area. STK artfully

blend two concepts into one - modern

steakhouse and a chic lounge, and has three

words to describe its mission: atmosphere,

temptation, steak. Its motto ‘Not Your

Daddy’s Steakhouse’ accompanied by an

image of the lower half of a lady dressed

in a short red lace number and high-heeled

stilettos, carrying a piece of steak and a

cleaver, is apparently aimed at promoting

STK as a female friendly dining experience,

in a bid to attract more females, who may

otherwise feel unease with the idea that

steakhouses is a man’s domain. Personally,

as a female, I did not feel at all intimidated.

I was busy being in awe of this amazing

venue and couldn’t wait to experience this

chic steakhouse with a difference.

First stop of course, was the bar to

sample their delicious cocktails while

we waited for our table to be prepared.

Lukasz, our bar host and his colleague

educated us on the STK art of mixology

while we prepared to whet our palate. Our

first drink,‘Not Your Daddy’s Manhattan’, a

blend ofWoodford Reserve, Liquor 43 and

Martini Rosso with a cherry to decorate,

is definitely one for the men. The taste

was quite pleasant and not overly strong,

although something more subtle and light
