T

his hotel was originally built in 1880, in

the picturesque village of Volcano and

has just four guestrooms. We love the

Limon room, with doors out onto the veranda

and views up and down the main street – a

great spot to sit in the evening and watch the

world go (very slowly) by.The Limon bathroom

has a wonderfully comfortable roll top bath,

and despite the historic nature of the Inn,

guestrooms have every modern comfort from

flat panel TVs, toWi-Fi, DVD and iPod players.

Downstairs, there’s a busy pub that is

extremely popular with locals and travellers

alike, serving hearty food and local brews and

wines.

EATING:

Of course you have to try the onsite pub at the Inn,

or for a spot of fine dining head into Plymouth and to

Taste, the Inn’s sister restaurant. Dishes are creative and

extremely tasty, with smart, efficient service.

THINGSTO DO:

Gold Country surrounds you, with forests to explore

and lots of activities. Nearby there’s the Black Chasm

Cavern, where you can take a trip deep down into

the cave system and take a tour of the amazing rock

formations.
