H
e’s one of the most established
names and reputable fashion
designers in the industry and
every season at London Fashion
Week, he showcases a collection that
never fails with an effortless chic and fresh
approach. Paul Costelloe, as we all know,
has been in the business of fashion for over
30 years and, with an emphasis on natural
fabrics, superior tailoring and wearable
designs, the Dublin-born designer is
undeniably one of the best. It was through
his training at the Faubourg Saint Honoré
Haute Couture boutiques in Paris and his
time as design assistant at Jacques Esterel
as well as his years spent at La Renescente
in Milan and on 7th Avenue in New York
that enabled Paul Costelloe to hone the
skills essential for success in the industry.
Since the launch of his fashion label
in 1979, the Costelloe brand has grown
extensively over the years, with the initial
focus on dressing ‘real women’ in fabrics
that ‘feel good and are fluid’. Each season
we are in awe and captivated by Paul
Costelloe’s catwalk presentation with each
show promoting an enchanting theme such
as the futuristic look in his SS10 collection,
the gothic glam look in hisAW10 collection,
and more recently a casual cool selection
of pastel shades for his SS13 collection.
The menswear collections in the last five
years have been equally successful with
the ‘Costelloe & Sons’ range of exquisite
menswear designs and his six
sons taking to the catwalk
at London Fashion Week,
continuing to thrive.
This
year,
Costelloe
welcomes the classic English
Gentleman into the 21st century
with another sartorial season
through his Paul Costelloe Man
label, a selection of exclusive
men’s suits, tailored shirts, silk
ties and cufflinks in a variation
of styles and colours. The
2013 spring/summer collection
introduced a capsule blazer that
is designed with emphasis on
the softness of fabric, as well
as details and trimmings that
give an up-to-date focus on a
cool and contemporary look.
Designed to be the tailoring
equivalent of a man’s cardigan,
the construction of the piece
is made to be soft and relaxed
with minimal padding on the
shoulders and inner lining of the
jacket. This stylish addition to
the collection features all types
of fabrication from cool linens
and cottons through to textured wools and
more traditional hopsack structures with
rich colours of blues ranging from midnight
to azure and a flash of geranium red.
England national team and Chelsea
football player Gary Cahill heads up the
latest Paul Costelloe Man collection as
brand ambassador for 2013. The label described the football
player as boasting “technical expertise and acute finishing
touches in his profession that epitomise the very essence
of the world of fast-pace tailoring and the passion of a Paul
Costelloe Man.” In response to his endorsement as brand
ambassador for the label, Gary Cahill commented, “I am
thrilled to have joined up with a brand that represents such
high quality menswear and a designer who is so well respected
in the fashion world.”
