colour block Conran takes us on a journey
back in time to London at its most stylish.
Fashion sweetheart Simone Rocha used
the styles of both her Irish grandmother,
Margaret Gleeson, and her Chinese
grandmother, Cecelia Rocha as a muse for
her autumn/winter collection named ‘Respect
your Elders’. Indeed the vintage references
to the fifties can be seen in the candy pink
billowed skirts and elements of sixties
nostalgia are evident in the use of cat eye
glasses, peter pan collars and shift dresses.
Like in previous collections Simone
contrasts the traditional and romantic with
contemporary and strong designs in texture
contrasts and modern tailoring. Despite a lack
of prints and a strict colour palette of baby
pink, nude and black, Simone’s use of leopard
spotted faux fur, mohair in ‘hatching yellow’,
patent leather and tinsel tweed provide a
mature diversity for the professional woman.
The signature brogue shoes, loved by the likes
of Alexa Chung, developed this season with a
higher chunky heel style in velvet.
