I

t was a night of fun and frolics as

French Tuesdays took on the roaring

1920s for their gangsters and flappers

themed Speakeasy Night evening

event. Capers met with the delightful

dolled up chassis while togas, peals

and panama hats filled the hideaway

at Brompton Road in South Kensington.

French Tuesdays, the social network

for working professionals, globally known

for their worldwide party gatherings saw

strings of media and fellow professionals

enjoy another evening of smiles and

bubbles as members and guests mingled,

danced and drank cocktails and champagne

throughout the evening. There was truly

a sense of celebration in the air and an

overall feeling of freedom that was both

captivating and invigorating at the same

time.

The Roaring Twenties, famously known

as the Jazz Age, is currently popular at

the moment with films like

The Gr

Gatsby

starring Leonardo DiCaprio and

Carey Mulligan embracing one of history’s

amazing eras. The ‘movement’ in which

jazz music grew in popularity by immense

standards in the USA also influenced other

parts of the world. And so it seems that

French Tuesdays were looking to do much

of the same thing with their cabaret flare

of individual independence to any other

midweek spot in London.

On what had to be one of the best

events of the year so far, I found myself

enjoying the evening immensely. At one

point, I was chatting to a friendly bunch of

visitors to the capital as they filled me in

about their trip to the UK, while nibbling

on specially prepared hors d’oeuvre

served by pleasantly dressed waiters in

black attire and red ties. The venue filled

with familiar faces and strangers alike saw

many business cards being exchanged and

people networking while the bongo man

set the evening alight musically, banging

away to themed music in the background.

It wasn’t long before the lights came

down low and the dance floor instantly

came alive with party people ready to

shake off a hard day’s work and let loose.

A birthday celebration in the far corner set

the mood for the evening as champagne

bottles popped and friendly staff made

way for a flaming cake to pass through the

crowd. There were bear hugs all round as

if this was a NewYears’ Eve celebration, and

an increase in French Tuesdays’ popularity

that one could only imagine that such an

event would achieve.
