The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2024 - Issue 36

bitecatwalk FASHION WEEK LONDON Autumn/Winter 2024 POPOVA MASHA M asha Popova has an eye for creating time capsules and clothing. Though she has previously spent a great deal of time explor- ing the influence of the early 2000s, her Fall-Winter collection aimed to transport us to the unique styling of the early 2010s, but not how you may remember. Instead, the designer took inspiration from sensa- tionalised fiction like ‘Skins’ and ‘The Bling Ring’ to present a falsified idea of this era that the media at the time wanted to print. Popova showcased trousers with scandalous cut- outs but referenced the ‘it girls’ without turning her designs into direct recreations. Her styling combined large plastic beads, pendants, spikey chains, con- trasting animal prints, and her signature elongated flared jeans. This complete, in-your-face catwalk show featured slouched silhouettes and denim maxi skirts that explored the most extreme parts of the not-so- distant past through maximalist layering and low-cut necklines. https://masha-popova.com
