bitecatwalk FASHION WEEK LONDON Autumn/Winter 2024 W hite overtook Paul Costelloe’s collection at the show’s be- ginning, focusing on the shape of the first seven garments. There was an immediate celebration of styled coats and well-draped layers resembling traditional corporate fashion. However, as the show continued, the garments grew bolder. The small details grew until the models wore graffiti layers like tights and red ging- ham dresses. It was clear that the designer’s initial presentation was a palette cleanser. The looks were intended to bring the audience into a familiar world of elegant power dressing so it could be disrupted. Classic styles like 1980s lapels and floor-length trench coats were expertly woven into quiet extravagance, where belled sleeves and full skirts added drama to Costelloe’s refined elegance. This collection combined the blur of the city and those fortunate to experience it in a presentation reminiscent of what’s been seen before and freshly altered. Like a famous capital’s skyline, the looks were built to the designer’s references in this collection. It became evident in the closing garments: two almost nostalgic velvet dresses with low cutouts, sweeping mermaid skirts and large puffy shoulders.
