bitecatwalk W hen I saw the SS24 show for Di Petsa, it reminded me of the captured women in the Spar- tans film 300 : the scene with the dancing and writhing around in the tent of the enemy Xerxes. However, these Grecian goddess looks of ensembles were coin- cidentally enough to inspire Di Petsa’s collection. Her Greek heritage and the goddess Aphrodite spurred her work to present the emergence of womanhood, from birth and virginity to love and sex and developing into an adult with wants, passions, and desires. Petsa said in a pre- view, “In culture and films, she’s depicted as a hyper-sexualised deity, but if you read deeper into her experiences, they are full of hardships and emotions in a very hu- man way.” It seems that every one this season has ei- ther fully joined in on the sweet and in- nocent side of sex or gone for it full force. This collection was a mixed bag, though. The opening pieces that walked were un- realistic in a way they were editorial, but no one could really ‘wear’ them. As the show moved on, the dresses and pieces became more commercial and adaptable; even the straps and corset-like lacing looked impossible to figure out.
