The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2023 - Issue 34
bitecatwalk FASHION WEEK LONDON Autumn/Winter 2023 T his AW23 season, Feben’s ‘Scales’ collection focuses solely on one tar- ot card, The Chariot, as opposed to last season, in which she featured the whole deck. As with the seeming theme of this sea- son’s shows, contradictions and battles be- tween dark and light, evil and holy, delicate and robust, the list goes on and on. However, Feben prevailed in this fun, flirty, edgy line- up. The Chariot’s card ethos can be seen and felt in how Feben implements her inspira- tions and melds them with the physical ma- terials of her pieces. For example, she uses sequins as armoured plating to show strength and protection, light silks and colourful prints to show play- fulness and perhaps vulnerability. I also admired her second attempt at introducing menswear with tailored but slightly off-cen- tred separates in exaggerated sizes. She also collaborated again with Accra-based artisans in producing some lovely macramé pieces, a tubular-shaped handbag, derriere exposing chaps and fringed shift dresses. https://feben.co FEBEN
