bitefilms rgylle F ollowing the success of the Kingsman franchise, director Matthew Vaughn returns to the world of spies with Argyl- le, a “razor-witted, reality-bending, globe-encircling spy thriller” about reclusive novelist Elly Conway who catches an underground crime syndicate’s attention when the plots in her espionage novels mirror their activities. The film’s star is Alfie, played by Chip, Vaughn’s daughter’s cute cat, whom the director incorporated into the movie after the initial professional feline actor proved useless. Bryce Dallas Howard portrays Elly Conway, and undercover spy Aiden Wilde, played by Sam Rockwell, vows to protect her from being kidnapped or killed, even attacking a so-called fan on the train who approaches the author for an autograph. Henry Cavill is the smooth Agent Argylle, who seems to be on the ball but gets distracted by Dua Lipa’s seductive character LaGrange in a low plunge gold dress on the dance floor. He requests Wyatt, played by John Cena, to get him out when a horde of guns are pointing at him. With Samuel L. Jackson debriefing Elly on the reality of her novels and agents Aiden and Argylle fighting the underground crime syndicate, this action-packed spy thriller is enough to fill the gap the Kingsman left when it concluded.
