bitecars However, their triumph was short-lived due to a tumul- tuous postwar economy that eventually plunged them into severe financial difficulty. In 1922, Ford acquired the company, maintaining its ownership to this day. Under his presidency, Edsel Ford, Henry Ford’s son, provided direction and inspiration for the Lincoln aesthetics that catapulted them onto the market. During the 1920s, the models were built with factory and custom-built bodies, from roadsters to elegant open-town cars. The following years saw highly valued models, including the K series, the V12-powered KB series, the 8L Judkins Coupe, and the Lincoln-Zephyr Continental Cabriolet and Continental Mark II. Setting the trend in futuristic models then, Continental featured an aerodynamic design pow- ered by a smaller V12 engine. It was initially a one-off design built for Edsel by Ford chief designer E T ‘Bob’ Gregorie, but since it became a hit with his friends, it was offered as a limited production car. Other celebratory models include the Lincoln Sport, 5.5-litre Cosmopolitan, Lido, Capri, Custom and Pre- miere introduced between 1949 and 1960. Twenty years later, the marque launched the Town Car, measuring nearly 18 feet, making it the largest American-made car. In 2002, the LS (Luxury Sport) was launched, followed by the luxury Aviator SUV that paved the way for the Mark LT, MKX, and Navigator. Today, these multi-era models remain sought after by car collector enthusiasts. Lincoln ventured into the future with the all-electric Mod- el L100, a concept car with aero-influenced styling and advanced technology to “create the immersive interior sanctuary of tomorrow”. It pays homage to the 1922 Mod- el L, its first luxury vehicle under Ford and takes inspi- ration from the brand’s design heritage while advancing its vision for futurist mobility. It also celebrated its 100th anniversary at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. What Drives This Power Model? This autonomous vehicle with intelligent driving experi- ence, connectivity and software-driven innovations ad- vances Lincoln’s vision and mobility of looking forward. It uses next-generation battery cell and pack technolo- gies delivering game-changing energy density and effi- cient structural integration. The bold approach provides elegant design and maximises the interior cabin space, allowing the designers the flexibility to create this futuris- tic Lincoln. Using the marque’s signature Quiet Flight brand DNA, the teams reimagined its visual future and illustrated how new innovations could come alive through advanced technologies and creative freedom. With the Model L100 Concept, they pushed revolutionary boundaries and changed how they consider its future designs, thus pre- senting an organic, muscular, forward-thinking vehicle that sits comfortably in a rural sci-fi setting. Inside the Cabin Lincoln created an immersive environment inside this beautifully executed space-like model with the digital cin- ematic floor, canopy, and ambient lighting harmonised to provide a personalised experience to enhance the occu- pants’ mood. The marque orchestrated the digital floor like a fine-tuned symphony with interior lighting accom- panied by sound, scent and touch to transport passen- gers to the sanctuary of tomorrow. It has an impressive interactive centre console chess- board with a jewel-inspired chess piece controller in the shape of the L100 car to redefine the controls inside the cabin through light and depth. Instead of a traditional steering wheel, the controller is implemented to make the vehicle experience intuitive and effortless. Passenger engagement can be tailored for the occasion thanks to driver-centric and social seating configurations. The enhanced space allows connectivity and mobility, such as the front row seats flipping forward to create a social setting with the front passengers sitting across from the rear occupants. This transformable environment provides a more accommodating setting giving the feel- ing of a third space. With accents of amethyst in a recy- cled suede fabric, this elevated car is implemented with animal-free materials and luxury alternatives. On the Outside Whilst it is low to the ground, the relaxed and sleek Model
