The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2022 - Issue 31
bitecatwalk O h, for the love of a good slashie/mash-up collec- tion! It makes me giddy when eras, styles and themes are played against one another in a fashion tug-of-war. It’s just more fun when fashion doesn’t take itself so seriously at times but instead celebrates the joy of artistic and eccentric dressing. That being said, Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini’s SS22 presentation was rad. Serafini is known for mixing things up from season to season and not following a typical ‘trend’ norm for his collections. His last presentation was decidedly preppy; the one before that ethereal and relaxed. Serafini wanted to bring freedom and the seduction back to dressing for this collection. “It’s about the power of movement, of wanting to show more skin. It’s a rebirth: back to life. And I wanted to celebrate it,” he stated before the runway show began. His clothing reflects this by combining styles and influ- ences from the '70s, '80s and '90s. Old leather fringed jackets and knee-high boots, peep-toe platforms, skin- tight catsuits, petite floral prints, boxy shoulders, slinky slip dresses, sheer patchwork multi-mixed printed skirts and floppy bucket hats, to name a few reconfigured designs. This happy collection was a joy to see walk. What I liked most about this varied and complex assem- blage was not necessarily how the looks themselves were styled together but the fact that one can take key pieces away and wear them forever. For example, the heavenly sky blue leather fringed trench coat in look #13 was a total score as a forever-statement-making piece. The gossamer, floor-length sheer white pleated skirt in look #48 can easily be styled up or down, making it a fantastic investment staple. www.philosophyofficial.com/gb_en Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini
