The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2022 - Issue 31
bitecatwalk ashion tycoon Giorgio Armani had much to celebrate with the 40th anniversary of Emporio Armani's Milan store opening. His niece, Silvana, was introduced as a possible successor to his helm, and it was his first return to the runway since 2020. The coed collection represented the fashion house’s known aesthetics and themes, and the expected and be- loved styles walked with a few new colour waves and a pop or two of sparkles and sequins here and there. The show opened with denim and large square patchworked jackets and blazers, then gradually moved away towards light- er, gauzier shorts and dresses and suddenly turned towards a modern take on all-white sportswear with zipper detailing walked. Look #28 was fascinating with its strategically placed zippers, pocketed poncho, and sci-fi sport wraparound sun- glasses. Again, the show shifted towards the organic with beige linen pieces that were more suitable for everyday wear and strolled down the simple runway. At the end of the very long presentation, nearly 100 looks walked, and the collection shift- ed again to show a more interesting contrasting colour scheme of turquoise and cobalt blues with ruby and poppy reds. As a whole, Armani stuck to his known winners and, instead of following other designers this fashion week, decided to rein- terpret his core designs and styles rather than proposing some- thing utterly new and edgy. Mr Armani knows not to mess with a good thing. www.armani.com/en-gb ARMANI EMPORIO
