As the show progressed, pieces that stood out to me included look #6, which encapsulated my style to a T. The lovely techni- cal shorts in pale ivory with crossed laces, the long-sleeved mesh effect dark khaki sweater and perfect cognac brown leather woven bucket bag felt very Michael Kors-ish. Rather than being American sportswear, it was created with Italian design concepts. So chic! Look #11 was a long white open knitted maxi dress that one could throw on over a sexy swimsuit and hit the shops of Positano, found on southern Italy’s Amalfi Coast, with- out thinking twice. Look #21 may be the ideal elegant and straightforward milky ivory sleeveless trench dress, leather heeled sandals and tote bag of all time to hop on a heli- copter from Pier 6’s heliport to the Hamptons. Look #22 is another impeccable style ensemble that I will be using as inspiration for my summer dress code with its sweet white cropped top and high-waisted muted blue aline skirt. It felt like an update to Audrey Hepburn’s Roman Holiday day outfit, making it the choice for strolling along Madison Av- enue or meeting friends for a brunch picnic in Central Park. As the collection glided along the swirled marble stone slabs, I noticed the divine periwinkle blue shade of the her- ringbone embroidered and sequinned ankle-length gown as one of the pops of colour shown. The very professional, updated day suit dress in look #53 would be the choice for any celebrity for day press interviews during Venice Film Festival. Look #41 was a beige jumpsuit, and there is noth- ing wrong with a tailored jumpsuit. The final two looks that caught my eye were the rich, buttery caramel colour of a sheer layered tulle skirt that was utter magic! It was too per- fect not to notice and covet immediately! And then, there was the palest pink tulle ball gown with contrasting brown leather straps, and a belt would be unexpected yet gorgeous for the unconventional Western bride. As a designer, Franchi has a magnificent sense of ladylike taste and keen knowledge of crafting clothing with perfect tailoring and fit.
