The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2021 - Issue 29
bitefilms he Fast & Furious Saga has had people talking for two decades, and we’ve never wanted to see the next instalment more than ever than in 2021.The latest sequel was initially scheduled to be released in April 2019 but was delayed several times, firstly due to the releases of Hobbs & Shaw (2019) and No Time to Die (2021) , then the pandemic. F9 is the ninth instalment and the tenth full-length film released in the Fast & Furious fran- chise since it officially premiered in 2001. Directed by Justin Lin, F9 features new and returning cast members thrown into sto- rylines that propel the stakes higher and higher. Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nath- alie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron reprise their roles while John Cena plays a new character. The continuation of Dominic Toretto’s story sees him having to meet the ghosts of the past if he wants to save his loved ones. The film also features Grammy-award winner Cardi B as new character Leysa, a woman connected to Dom’s history, and a cameo by Reggaeton performer Ozuna. The team gets back together to prevent the most insidious criminal’s plan to take over the world, despite Dom leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son Brian. The skilled assassin and high-performance driver happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena). The appearance of his brother, who has never been mentioned before, although ‘family’ is such a prominent theme in the franchise, seems a bit odd, but clearly, the siblings are not on good terms. Something sig- nificant must have occurred to explain why Dom refuses to acknowledge Jakob’s existence, and we are very keen to find out why. Released Date: 24 June 2021 www.thefastsaga.com
