The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2021 - Issue 29

bitecatwalk A relatively new face to NewYork FashionWeek, the Australian brand Bronx & Banco was one of the few who opted to put on a live presentation this season. Another designer brand to show on the rooftop of Spring Studios, the highly bare-bones setting was perhaps welcomed with the main focus on the clothes, and man, the clothes did not disappoint! With so many designers this season choosing to simplify and pair down, it was fantastic to see something hip, edgy, and ‘gasp!’ sensual! The show opened with what I first thought was a take on Arabian Nights, complete with bandeau tops, exposed stomachs, thigh-high slits, twisted braiding trimming details, crisscrossed cage stiletto sandals, and turbans. But then, things shifted and more classically chic and elegant contem- porary suit-sets in linen and playfully bouncy mini-dresses in an array of prints and ruffles came around the bend. However, what stole my breath away was look #21.This is the new naked dress! This beyond-stunning ruched, glittery bronze sheer dress was to die for! It was utterly gorgeous and silently but pro- foundly implied to all onlookers,“Yes, I am sexy, and I’m not even trying. Feel free to keep gawking.”With its high neck- line and baby cap sleeve details, this very fitted calf-length dress took what could be a conservative design and turned it on its head with sparkling fabric and sheerness. And, to continue with my love affair of this collection, the final two dresses were also unique! Golden and goddess-like, the flirty swing of the angel hair pasta-thin fringe and woven crisscross bodice only made this collection all that more salivating desirable! https://bronxandbanco.com BANCO BRONX &
