F ollowing an extensive three-year renovation, Man- darin Oriental Ritz Madrid will re-open in the spring of 2021. During the refurbishment, Spanish architect Rafael de La-Hoz and French designer duo Gilles & Bois- sier collaborated closely on the spectacular new design and range of facilities to ensure they appeal to both local and international guests. In the process, they preserved the striking Belle Époque character of the original build- ing in keeping with the original spirit conceived by Swiss hotelier Cesar Ritz. Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid will reflect the important cultural and societal role that the hotel has always held in the Spanish capital by collaborating with local artists, creators, artisans, and brands from across different media and disciplines. Their creations will take centre stage in a series of partnerships that will be unveiled in the coming months, and that are designed to establish the hotel as a destination in its own right. The hotel will open with 153 luxuriously appointed rooms, including 53 suites. Guests will be spoilt for choice with five restaurants and bars which have been designed, devel- oped, and implemented by celebrated Spanish chef Quique Dacosta. Visitors will be equally in awe of the historic Palm Court with its signature glass dome, reinstated after more than 80 years, that will have a selection of artworks on display that have been inspired by the strong connection between the hotel and this majestic city. There will also be new leisure and wellness facilities including a heated indoor swimming pool, a vitality pool, experience showers, a steam room, and a contemporary fitness centre. The ballroom and function spaces, with their large windows facing the Prado Museum, have been beautifully restored and designed to ensure the hotel is once again the venue for choice for weddings, private dinners, and parties. To celebrate the launch, a special Opening Offer will be available from 15th March until 30th June 2021. It will include a full daily breakfast for two, a daily credit of €150 per rooms (or €300 per suite) redeemable throughout all the restaurants, an exclusive two-hour guided city tour, and an original and unique historic Ritz gift; a piece of history to remember this occasion. “We are delighted to be able to open our doors again to the city of Madrid and the world, and look forward to wel- coming guests to this beautiful and historic hotel, which is poised to reclaim its place as one of the most iconic hotels in Europe,” Greg Liddell, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid said. “Our team has spent the last three years undergoing intense training in order to provide the legendary service and unique experiences that Manda- rin Oriental is renowned for.” www.mandarinoriental.com/madrid Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid to Open in Spring 2021 Jada Brookes looks at some of the latest news and developments from Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and InterContinental Hotels Group.
