Mandarin Oriental Munich Reopens with Newly Renovated Room and Suites Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group bitetravel A nother recently renovated property in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group portfolio is Mandarin Oriental Munich which has reopened in time to celebrate its 20th anniversary. In keeping with the successful restoration of its public areas and the introduction of Japanese restaurant Matsuhisa Munich in 2015, the hotel has now unveiled all-new guest rooms and suites to confirm its position as one of the leading luxury hotels in Germany. “We are delighted to present our new and beautifully designed rooms and suites at Mandarin Oriental Munich. Each room in- corporates comfortable and skilful updates, and a fresh new look and feel, that includes artwork which pays tribute to Mu- nich’s geographical location as the gateway to the Alps,” said Dominik G. Reiner, General Manager. “We are also proud to be one of the first hotels in Germany to have replaced all sin- gle-use plastic items in our rooms and bathrooms with sustain- able alternatives that we hope our guests will appreciate. The team and I look forward to welcoming our guests and deliver- ing memorable experiences and the personalised and discreet service that we are renowned for.” The guest rooms and suites designed by Hamburg-based de- sign studio CM Design have a well-orchestrated mix of styles, colours, and patterns.They combine furniture with a historical heritage that provide a fresh and contemporary look and col- our scheme.The hotel has collaborated with renowned brands such as Ligne Roset, Bavarian-based and family-run carpenter Felix Graf, and House ofTai Ping, the esteemed manufacturer of textile floor coverings headquartered in Hong Kong. In addition to state-of-the-art technology in every room and suite, the completely redesigned bathrooms in black and white tones incorporate advanced sustainable technologies to min- imise energy and water consumption. Guests will enjoy a variety of newly introduced in-room amenities and services including personalised butlers, locally produced biodegradable coffee capsules for Nespresso machines, a private bar with dai- ly creations by Matsuhisa Munich, and a champagne experience served directly from the custom-made trolley every afternoon. In each room, you will find new art concepts featuring individual mountain images by local artist Felix Rehfeld, a student of Ka- rin Kneffel, one of the most well-known female contemporary artists in Germany and master pupil of visual artist Gerhard Richter.The centrepiece of the collection, an art installation of 100 miniature mountain paintings, is prominently displayed in the lobby of the hotel.The artwork in the suites consists of a mountain massif exclusively produced for the hotel by Royal Bavarian porcelain manufacturer, Nymphenburg. In celebration of the re-opening, the hotel has created a special Staycation by M.O. available until 31st March 2021.
