I magine a world where there are no women, and men’s thoughts can be read louder than the under- ground tube going through the tunnel between stations. Now that Star Wars is over thanks to heroine Rey saving the day, Daisy Ridley can safely hang up her lightsaber and move into a slightly less action-ori- entated role as Viola Ease in sci-fi action film Chaos Walking . Although still far away from earthly settlings, Viola crash lands on a strange planet called NewWorld where the only species are men. Taking place in the not so distant future, Todd Hewitt (Tom Holland) discovers Viola, a mysterious girl on his planet. He is taken aback as he has never seen a female before. All the men are afflicted by a force called “the noise” that puts all their thoughts on display. Threatened by the villainous David Prentiss, mayor of Prentisstown (Mads Mikkelsen) and his army, the two end up on the run. As Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet’s dark secrets. Based on the young adult science fiction novel, The Knife of Never Letting Go by British-American author Patrick Ness, the book provides a good storyline for a gender-twisting action thriller.
