I t was a cold late night in the heart of central London and our last sched- uled show of the day brought us to St George’s Church in Bloomsbury for Malan Breton’s AW20 catwalk show called ‘In Ancient Greek Folklore’. He kept true to his style of fantastic evening gowns, silver power suits and other garments for wom- en. He also showed his versatility to design for men. This season, Breton’s designs fea- tured strong silver fluorescent, red and pink feather coats and elaborate dresses, among an array of colours ranging from black, reds and blues that served to make this collection very interesting. Breton worked his magic again to create vi- sions of the Phoenix, the mythological bird that cyclically regenerates or, is otherwise, born again. These designs, unlike his usual collection of figure-hugging dresses, were fit to dress a modern queen. Contrasting sil- houettes, blue jacket, long coats in blue and white were impressive. A blue square pat- tern coat paired with a royal blue waistcoat and silver trousers were an optimistic win- ner and defined a formidable fashion power statement that stood powerfully alone. A dream of exquisite designs was elevated to superhero status, including a silver high- neck zip-up coat with two pink fur panels running from the shoulders down to the body. It had matching pockets, cuffs and on-the-knee worn with silver boots that told its own story. This outfit was amongst many of his designs that showed the sheer creativity and imagination of the designer.
