The Bite Magazine - Autmn/Winter 2020 - Issue 28

bitecatwalk L ondon-based, Irish-born designer Richard Malone based this collection purely on ‘In- novation Pillars’. He has been supportive of the global community with his supply chain being multifaceted from farm-to-fabric and then returned to the soil. “Fashion need not only be about consumption,” says Richard. He has also been working with weavers who use organic materials and are Woolmark trusted suppliers of the world’s merino wool to make incredible yarns to develop and create excellent cloth. The first outfit to hit the catwalk was a black leath- er coat. The collection continued with dark colours changing from rust, muted purple, and then sky blue in various textiles including merino wool. A real mix of tones then exploded and finished with two strong dress statement pieces that can be de- scribed as a massive off-one shoulder padding, an intricate structure that you would have to see for yourself. Richard Malone was awarded a prestigious LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy) Grand Prix schol- arship. His past graduate collection opened the year’s BA Fashion press show and was awarded the Deutsche Bank Award for Fashion. Malone was also named the winner of the International Wool- mark Prize - praised by the panel of judges for his ‘radically transparent’ working practice, revolution- ary approach to research and a redefined notion of luxury. http://www.richard-malone.com FASHION WEEK LONDON Autumn/Winter 2020 RICHARD MALONE
