The Bite Magazine - Autmn/Winter 2020 - Issue 28
bitecatwalk DB BERDAN D B Berdan is fast becoming a com- mon highlight at London Fashion Week, showing their AW20 collec- tion at Fashion Scout. The brand is synonymous with body-contouring silhouettes, but in this show, they created sculptural state- ment dresses inspired by the form of natural women. The collection called ‘Scan to Escape’ merged reality with the digital world. Prints consisted of technological QR codes that are scannable with phones and take you from one reality to a new digital multimedia world that welcomes new members of ‘the escapees from the apocalypse’ once the code is scanned. Synthesising eco-conscious materials with tech gear, DB Berdan immensely focused on sourc- ing environmental fabrics and accessories in this AW20 collection. The designers also used hemp, an anti-bacterial, biodegradable and breathable material in the collection. The bat- sleeved roped cyber jackets and pants were made with recycled denim fabrics, obtained from post-consumer recycled cotton. An over- sized shirt dress and two-toned cyber trench coat made with ORTA’s Halys fabric were eco-coated with natural earth-friendly clay. Amazing outfits worn by twin models were in various colours, while the zips on garments were made from blue plastic caps of water bot- tles. The clips were made with reduced water usage, and the ropes were made from recycled polyester. DB Berdan used skeletal jewellery made by EXO, who aim to promote the eternal wisdom and immortality of nature. With ethi- cally sourced animal bones, resurrected within aesthetic and mystic boundaries, this designer is eco-friendly. https://dbberdan.com
