The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2020 - Issue 27
bite watches Images courtesy of Maurice Lacroix The two timepieces are crafted entirely from steel or bronze with a satin-finished surface and polished edges. The bezel’s six arms extend beyond the ceramic bezel so that it can be easily grasped and rotated in one direction. The arms are engraved with 10-minute intervals and the screwed case back features a ‘Vagues du Jura’ (Jura waves) motif surrounding the engraved ‘M’ logo in the centre. The new AIKON Venturer watches dis- play a relationship between their objective and perceived value. Finished with a deep green sunray-brushed dial, the bronze and brown version, a first in the AIKON Venturer, also has the rubber strap with grooves in this hue. With the Easy- change system, it can be swapped in the blink of an eye for a vintage brown calfskin leather version with ecru topstitching. The ceramic bezel becomes a shade of brown, while the six hour-marker arms are brown like the case. This watch is fitted with the ML 115 automatic movement which is available in a limited edition of 500 pieces. The final piece from the AIKON family is the 43 mm Venturer GMT which integrates the GMT function for the first time. It alternates between black and steel and has a fourth 24-hour hand that keeps track of time in two cities. It features three hands as well as a second time zone and the date at 3 o’clock. The ML 165 automatic chronograph caliber also features the date, hours, minutes, and seconds in the centre of the dial. The case back is engraved with a world map surrounded by the 24 main time zones. To increase contrast and legibility, the GMT hand in red stands out against the black sunray-brushed dial surrounded by round hour-markers, circled and coated with Super-Lumino- va, a non-radioactive and non-toxic photoluminescent or af- terglow pigment. The timepiece also has six arms which extend beyond the ceramic bezel and water-resistant of 30 ATM. It is completed with an integrated five-link steel strap which can be changed to another strap with rubber grooves. Maurice Lacroix’s exquisite timepieces are available online and at stores in the United States, Asia, and Europe. https://www.mauricelacroix.com/eu_en/
