Leather daddies met 1950s housewife chic in the collection titled ‘Venus in Phurr’. From long studded leather coats and student jumpsuits to her signature mesh bodysuits and candy-coloured strapped jackets in pink, green and blue. There was such a diverse mix of style that no one else could pull off together, yet Pam Hogg does it season after season. There is no fear in the pieces she creates from the reveal- ing mesh with strategical placed strips of fabrics varying in metallics and fur trims. Her signature ‘Venus’ was placed across the bust like a motif and appeared as a de- sign on toned down tops, and the playing of Bananarama’s ‘Venus’ fitted well into the playlist. There was so much flare in the models who walked as they owned the pieces they wore and carried accessories with leather whips and studded baker boy caps. With an abundance of leather and PVC from catsuits to miniskirts, another addition to this year’s showcase was the use of twin models who wore colour contrasting piec- es and walked in time together, adding another element to the performance of Pam Hogg catwalks. There is a reason her shows are jam-packed with people. It’s the diversity and the playfulness that captivates so many. All ages and all sizes walk the show and offer their own personalities into the mix. Her statement use of oversized tulle gowns complement- ed the addition of faux furs this season, and voluminous skirts with tails of furs bounced dramatically and looked effortlessly elegant. Another standout piece was a head- to-toe red dress in fur and mesh. Heavy tulle dresses and lightweight tulle gowns also made a reappearance. There were daring sensuality and playful erotica, from se- quinned underwear to cutesy tulle skirts with black bows and ‘50s beehive hairdos, metal hardware and platform go-go boots.
