NEW SINGLE RELEASES Samantha Morgan checks out several recent and soon-to-be-released singles covering various genres of music. bitenewmusic Cara Delevingne I n May, Cara Delevingne stepped into her long‑held musical dream with the release of debut singles ‘I Forgot’ and ‘Out of My Head’. The double drop marked her signing to Warner Records and offered the first glimpse of her debut album arriving in late summer. Co‑written with Trey Campbell and co‑produced with BJ Burton, ‘I Forgot’ places Delevingne’s fragile vocals against industrial‑leaning distortion and synths, before slipping into the trip‑hop pulse of ‘Out of my Head’, where she breaks free from claustrophobic tension over drum ’n’ bass. A seven‑minute short film directed by Emmy‑winner Jessica Lee Gagné mirrors the music’s emotional unrav‑ elling, placing Delevingne inside scenes that repeatedly fracture the fourth wall, revealing the machinery behind stunts and studio artifice as she fights, dances, sings and screams her way out. “Music was always that dream I had, but never believed I would get the opportunity to create,” she said of her music debut. “Writing ‘I Forgot’ felt like a rebirth for me, and ‘Out of my Head’ was like going to therapy. Everything has felt like it’s led up to this point, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience it.” Playing and writing music have been lifelong passions for the successful model and actress, who picked up the drums at age 9. She has been known to move between sets and shoots with a guitar in hand, writing poems or lyrics in quiet moments as a private practice. But she’s infused music into her creative pursuits as well, writing a song for her 2017 Luc Besson-directed space opera Valerian , and later starring in the West End’s revival of Cabaret. She’s popped up on critically acclaimed albums such as Fiona Apple’s Fetch the Bolt Cutters , St. Vincent’s Masseduction , and Dijon’s Baby. Delevingne’s debut tour began on 1 June in Berlin, with stops across Europe, the UK and the US, plus festival appearances at All Things Go NYC and Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Buenos Aires and São Paulo, ending in December.
