F5VE - I Choose You Image courtesy of Satellite-414 via Charlotte Rutherford F ive-member Japanese girl group, f5ve, comprised of Sayaka, Kaede, Miyuu, Ruri, and Rui, are back with the deluxe edition of their debut album, ‘SEQUENCE 01.5’. This expanded release is a 29-track, two-disc collection that introduces three new singles, ‘I Choose You’, ‘Wish’, and ‘Snowman’, alongside 15 remix- es of their original songs, reimagined by cutting-edge electronic producers worldwide. The project was crafted in Tokyo by executive producer BloodPop, with addi- tional production from A. G. Cook. The remix contributions from a diverse line-up include legendary Japanese artists M-Flo, Shinichi Osawa, and TeddyLoid; US tastemakers Dorian Electra, Hana, and Doss; Korean newcomers The Deep and kimj; and UK & European talents Hannah Diamond, Finn Keane, Count Baldor, and Himera. To celebrate, f5ve also released a colourful and playful music video for ‘I Choose You’, produced by BloodPop and Count Baldor, and directed by Crystalline Structures Studio. The deluxe follows the release of their critically ac- claimed debut album ‘SEQUENCE 01’ earlier this year. A high-energy collision of sonic worlds that propels J-pop into the international spotlight, the edition was executive produced by BloodPop and features a feisty verse from American singer-songwriter Kesha. Across the 11 tracks, f5ve tore up the rulebook, blending dance, rock, funk, and hyperpop with glitchy textures, metallic snares, and multilingual hooks. From battling the oppressive work culture, magical clocks that can control time, aliens that play gacha games, being as tiny as a ladybug or as big as Tokyo Tower, and eating a lot of lettuce, this album is a wacky yet cohesive trip into a nostalgic future where anything is possible. It includes the quirky single ‘Magic Clock’, the intergalactic banger ‘UFO’, the high-energy dance anthem ‘Underground’, and their whimsical debut ‘Let- tuce’. www.f5veofficial.com
