The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2025 - Issue 37
bitecatwalk I n a truly theatrical moment, Aadnevik’s Spring-Summer 2025 show transported its audi- ence into ‘The Secret Garden’, offering a delicate, dreamlike journey through themes of rebirth, beauty, and the dualities of growth. Designers Hila and Kristian Aadnevik drew inspiration from Franc- es Hodgson Burnett’s classic novel, weaving hidden wonder and inner transformation into each collection thread. Instead of a literal story interpretation, the show aimed for an atmospheric experience. It opened in near silence as if nature were holding its breath. Models emerged like apparitions from a forgotten gar- den, draped in diaphanous layers of pastel tulles, sheer chiffon, and soft silks that shimmered with dew. Shades of blush pink, creamy yellow and icy lavender transi- tioned to dusky blues and ultimately black, mirroring the emotional arc of the heroine, Mary Lennox. Despite the softness of the fabrics, each piece was structured with the brand’s signature edge, including lace corsetry, sharp cutouts, and meticulous hand embroidery, giving the looks a sensual and modern weight. Delicate French lace crept like vines across exposed backs and shoulders, while crystal embellishments and feather- light floral appliqués evoked the illusion of living petals fluttering in the wind. Storytelling truly sets this collection apart. The catwalk became a narrative space, using fashion to explore the awakening of a forgotten garden and a woman’s spiritual reawakening. There was a movement from grief to grace, from darkness to discovery. At a glance, one model wore a soft ivory gown adorned with pearl- like beading that sparkled under the lights like fresh rainfall. In contrast, another model donned a black feathered gown that whispered something unresolved yet powerfully alive. In this collection, fantasy met craftsmanship at every turn. The garments were rich in detail without being overwhelming. The romanticism was restrained, and there was an underlying haunting quality—an intense quietude that characterises Aadnevik’s work. For those familiar with the brand, this was a natural evolution. It was a bold introduction for new audiences to a world where femininity is fierce and fragile, wrapped in mystery and ready to bloom. In ‘The Secret Garden’, Aadnevik invites us to feel, remember, and reawaken something beautiful within. www.aadnevik.com AADNEVIK FASHION WEEK LONDON Spring/Summer 2025
