Tamyr by Inclover In a season where storytelling is synonymous with fashion, Inclover’s Spring-Summer 2025 collection, ‘Tamyr’, offered a genuine dialogue between herit- age and modern womanhood. Presented during Paris Fashion Week, designer Gaziza Shabdarbayeva drew inspiration from Kazakhstan’s cultural and artisanal past. Tamyr means ‘root’ in Kazakh; this central idea is woven through the entire collection like a lifeline. What made ‘Tamyr’ compelling was the reference to Kazakh traditions and the skilful transformation of these references into contemporary silhouettes. The influence of the shanyrak (the crown of a yurt), arkhar horns, and the tactile complexity of traditional crafts were evident but never felt forced or didactic. It was like a soft echo of lineage, expressed through macramé, hinted at in beadwork, and present in the intricate layering of organza, lace, and lamé. The garments ranged from modern bridalwear to everyday pieces and evening gowns, yet embodied the same spirit of grounded elegance, as if every seam held a ceremony. Notable looks included a high-neck ivory gown adorned with cascading beadwork that shimmered like desert heat and a black macramé sheath with latticework evoking armour and intimacy. Colour played a strong emotional role in the narrative. The palette, rooted in earthy whites, deep reds, golds, turquoise, and soft silver, mirrored the Kazakh natural landscape and cultural symbolism. It evoked toi, the Kazakh celebration of life and community, not nos- talgically but as a symbol of continuity and renewal. Amid a fashion week full of spectacle, Inclover offered something more grounded. It told a story, reminding us that fashion can be a craft and cultural expression that is meaningful, modern, and deeply rooted in her- itage. Lena Erziak Lena Erziak’s ‘Modern Muses’ collection felt like a tribute, a love letter, and a feminist monument. Set within the grandeur of Paris Couture Week, the show was deeply emotional, unapologetically personal, and quietly powerful in its intention. The designer’s vision was not confined to trends or seasons but provided a layered reflection on the iconic and intimate wom- en who shape our cultural and emotional worlds.
