The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2025 - Issue 37

bitefashion pher Nick Knight for SHOWstudio, is at the forefront of this project. Once seen as an error, the glitch has become a de- fining feature of the designer’s work, symbolising the beauty of imperfection and the potential for disruption in a world increasingly dominated by technology. The film and digital installation demonstrate Laugesen’s ability to anticipate and respond to the cultural zeitgeist. In a world where the boundaries between the physical and digital realms are increasingly blurred, the designer challenges us to rethink our understanding of craftsmanship, identity, and creativity. His use of glitch aesthetics and AI-assisted design is a stylistic choice and a philosophical statement on the nature of art and technology in the 21st century. The presentation included an exclusive Q&A panel discus- sion moderated by Dr. Cyana Madsen, featuring Laugesen, Jean-François Carly, and Toby Shepperson, the founder and editor of EDREA Magazine. It explored the evolution of fash- ion video media, from analogue experimentation to AI-as- sisted workflows, and examined how glitch aesthetics have transitioned from VHS distortions to algorithmic disrup- tions in contemporary fashion and art. This conversation was particularly timely as the fashion industry grapples with the implications of AI and digital technology on creativity and production. Laugesen’s work offers a glimpse into fashion’s future, where technology is more than a tool but a collabora- tor in the creative process. The venue choice for Ground Zero Trilogy is no coincidence. art’otel London Hoxton, in the heart of the vibrant Shored- itch and Hoxton districts, is a cultural destination blending luxury hospitality with contemporary creativity. Designed by Eyal Shoan of Digital Space, the hotel features an eclectic collection of artworks, including original pieces by D*Face and Banksy, reflecting its commitment to cutting-edge artistic expression. art’otel London Hoxton is a hub for curated exhibitions, live events, and immersive digital experiences. Through hosting Ground Zero Trilogy, the hotel continues to shape London’s contemporary arts and fashion landscape, fostering a dynamic environment for artists, designers, and innovators. Its focus on artistic activation, cultural storytelling, and com- munity engagement made it the ideal venue for Laugesen’s groundbreaking project. EDREA Magazine is a disruptive fashion and culture publica- tion that redefines creative storytelling in the UK. The maga- zine’s name, derived from Old English, means ‘powerful and wealthy’. Its mission is to challenge the status quo through progressive artistic dialogue, experimental fashion narratives, and fearless editorial content. Its third issue, ‘The Dark Side’, delves into the intricate complexities of the fashion industry, often hidden from the public eye. The issue tackles subjects ranging from sustaina- bility to mental health, confronting the uncomfortable truths within the industry. Through its collaboration with Laugesen on the Ground Zero Trilogy, EDREA Magazine contin- ues to amplify emerging talent and champion innovative, thought-provoking perspectives in the creative industry.y. https://jenslaugesendesign.com/brand Images courtesy of Jens Laugesen
