Ground Zero Trilogy Mia Zhang explains the concept of Danish fashion designer Jens Laugesen’s Ground Zero presentation, which was held at the art’otel London Hoxton. bitefashion JENS LAUGESEN W ithin an evolving fashion world and blurring art, technology, and design boundaries, Jens Laug- esen is a visionary. Known for his avant-garde approach to fashion and pioneering work in digital glitch aesthetics, the Danish fashion designer pushes the envelope with his latest project, Ground Zero Trilogy. Presented in collaboration with EDREA Magazine and hosted at art’otel London Hoxton’s immersive gallery, this multilayered film screening and digital exhibition showcase his enduring influ- ence on the fashion industry. Ground Zero Trilogy is a philosophical exploration of hybridity, deconstruction, and technology’s role in shaping contemporary design. The project revisits Laugesen’s Hy- brid Reconstruction philosophy, which he introduced two decades ago during his groundbreaking debut at London Fashion Week. It also builds upon his original Ground Zero collection, which was presented in 2002. At the time, the designer’s work challenged conventional notions of fashion, identity, and craftsmanship, positioning him at the forefront of avant-garde fashion. This latest project re-examines these themes through the lens of AI-assisted design, digital abstraction, and algorithmic manipulation, reflecting on the post-9/11 world and its ongoing impact on creativity and culture. The immersive show, supported by The Danish Arts Founda- tion, is a multisensory experience that combines film, digital art, and sound design. Laugesen collaborated with photogra- pher and director Jean-François Carly, film editor Maxim Young, and EDREA Magazine to produce a visually stunning and intellectually provocative.
