The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2024 - Issue 36

bitefashion Cristina Lloyd explores The Couture Club’s inception, progression and AW24 Knits Collection. The Couture Club W hen Ross Worswick and Scott Shashua met in 2010, organising and promoting parties in the bustling night- clubs of Manchester and London, they probably didn’t envision they would be working on a fashion brand in the future. Their stint in the nightclub industry helped fuse their entrepreneurial ambition, creativity and understanding of youth culture to build com- munities of like-minded people who valued style, culture, and the experience of being part of something bigger than a night out. Worswick’s appearance on MTV’s Ex on the Beach in 2014 gained public attention and a significant social media following. Shashua, who studied law at university, qualified as a solicitor and set up a football agency to represent players. After Worswick returned to Manchester, the close friends discussed their desire to start a cloth- ing brand. “He [Ross] has always had a passion for clothing, so we joined forces and never looked back,” Scott told I Love Manchester online. The Couture Club was launched in 2015 to create affordable luxury streetwear, combining high-end fashion with everyday wearability. With an initial investment of £5K, the founders had clothes made in the UK for the first six months. “We couldn’t afford to buy [further] stock until we had sold the [previous] stock,” Worswick explained. The following year’s Black Friday rocketed their sales, allowing the two men to spend more on products and grow their business.
