bitecatwalk Joshua Kane S hipwrecked Tailors’ is the vintage icing on your birthday cake, the clothbound cover on your favourite book and the stylised bottle that holds your perfume. It takes one of the most worn menswear items in fashion (the tailored suit) and adds so much maximalist opulence that it no longer feels regular. I fell in love with this collection from the first mod- el – details drench the clothes like seawater. Joshua Kane is not afraid of eccentric pattern pairings, and this trait allows his entire body of work to shine individually within their cohesive stylings. Many looks made me almost swoon, but I found myself thinking about two long after the runway was over. The first — a black suit with hand-stitched beading details climb- ing down the lapels and up the hem of the trousers — was a de- lightfully jewelled interpretation of being washed to shore with the weeds and foliage from the ocean floor. The second (which opened Kane’s presentation) felt like it was plucked directly from a pirate’s wardrobe. It was covered in fanciful lace embellish- ments that shone on the jacket’s white base. This collection had a genderless understanding of menswear and captured the heart of an eccentric pirate character shipwrecked with nothing but a crew of expert tailors.
