When KWK by Kay Kwok walked this season, it again showed a genderless and nonconforming collection, free of traditional fashion reigns and altogether liberated clothing for the world of tomorrow. The designer wished to instil their views of self-enlightenment by looking within for self-healing, clarity and light. The clothing depicts this desire for the ethereal levity of being free from the heaviness of earthly requirements, to be one with yourself and nature, to have no ties to superfluous worries, but is joined with the soul to be at peace. This season’s collection transcribed this message of freedom and light through the fanciful designs. I love the theatrical scope and hugeness of it all; the whimsical, al- ien-like hands that wrapped around the models’ bodies, the enormous metallic shell accessories, and the highly hooped skirts that seemed to float magically were a wel- comed outlier to Fashion Week’s ‘sexy, sassy’ themes. www.kaykwok.com
