bitecatwalk AADNEVIK FASHION WEEK LONDON Spring/Summer 2024 T he gorgeous and mysterious 1500 French tapestry ‘The Lady and The Unicorn’ inspired Aadne- vik’s collection, ‘My Soul Desire’. The mythological creatures and regal women blending in rich, sumptuous jewel tones set the mood for this woven master- piece. Five separate panels depict the five senses, but the sixth is a mystery. I could not decipher what the image was meant to convey, but perhaps it was a message of love or understanding. The mythical unicorn standing to the left of the figural lady in each panel is known to symbol- ise rarity, beauty and purity; a kind of virginal angle horse with a horn enrobed in romantic lore. This collection depicts such romanticism with slinky silhouettes, alluring thigh cuts, short skirts and tight bodices. Many pieces looked simple like an ice skater costume turned boudoir nightie or a simple gown with sparkly fabric. I didn’t see the theme of the mythical or noble- woman reinterpreted or even modern- ised. However, a few looks were like the all-white opening look with its tiered floor-length ruffled tulle robe and the putty green gown with tulle accents, but overall, I didn’t see any wow factor. www.aadnevik.com
