The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2023 - Issue 34

bitecatwalk P aul Costelloe is a character through and through and one that has remained a constant, steadfast force in British and international design. This AW23 collec- tion proved that this remarkable man has no intention of slacking off despite his mature age. As usual, he presented an impressive collection of no fewer than 54 looks this season at the Waldorf Hilton. Here, he showcased beautiful dress- es, separates and accessories inspired by the novel Ulysses by James Joyce and its iconic structures of Dublin. Large-scale floral prints, fine knit tweeds, traditional plaids, metallic prints and jaunty top hats dominated the theme. They all seemed to follow Costelloe’s typical design aesthet- ics; however, the styling choices made an odd impression on me: the hair, make-up, and jewellery all read heavy and had a definite ‘80s vibe. It felt disjointed and over the top for these definitively feminine looks. www.paulcostelloe.com PAUL COSTELLOE “There is a celebration of Dublin that was, Dublin that is, and the city I love so well.” - Paul Costelloe.
