The knitted garments are intricately made in-house in their high-tech knitting park at their headquarters in Bodelshausen. It represents their expertise in mesh and is characterised by extensive handiwork, high technical know-how, and longer production times. In a nutshell, it's 'high knitting art’. One unique KnIT Piece is the knitted wool coat with a mix of ready-made wool fabric and expressive cable-knit patterns. Its high degree of comfort, combined with high-quality soft wool, is produced with 1,000 grams of yarn and a total production time of 165 minutes. The front part of the wool fabric coat is first knitted in the tube on circular knitting machines. It is steamed in a steam chamber for nine minutes at 150 degrees Celsius under a vacuum to correct fabric unevenness and fix the stitch pattern. Its finishing occurs in a neighbouring town where the knitted fabric is placed lengthwise, and the fulling agents are applied on a yard goods machine. Samples are continuously taken for the square metre weight to achieve the perfect quality. Once the correct fulling density is completed, a special finishing agent is added to improve the surface structure. The fulling fabric is fixed on a calendar (belt machine) at the subsequent temperate to create an even and smooth surface. The back and sleeves are first knitted into shape at the Marc Cain headquarters on two different pitches - a coarse and fine-knitted look. The yarn is then twisted in the in-house mill to achieve an expressive stitch look, with approximately 950 metres of yarn needed for the knitted length of the back piece. The sleeves are machine-linked, so fewer steps are required to make them up. The coat is exceptionally comfortable and has a soft, cuddly feel. The back and sleeves are finished in a gentle process.
