The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2023 - Issue 33

bitecatwalk T his season Custo Barcelona again showed a delightful line of warm-weather must-haves. They’re known for their bril- liant and hyper-original prints and designs and remain true to their fun and festive roots. This season they were inspired by the imagination and introduced a new innovative pattern con- struction (various geometric shapes and cutouts could be seen as a theme throughout the collection) from new materials. They wanted to show a woman who is empowered, confident and not afraid to take risks with how she gets dressed. This included a large assemblage of beachwear, swimwear, t-shirts and clever separates that all walked the runway giving off major vacation vibes. “Somehow, an appointment with the sun, we try to return the light and brightness after all this period of darkness. We create some pieces that are of advanced fashion language for women who love fashion from the emotional side. We try to seduce them through creativity, innovation, idea and surprise based on experimental work, both in lines, volumes and a fusion of mate- rials,” stated designer brothers David and Custo Dalmau. Custo also made a point to share their work as “a job inspired by the safety of a woman who is herself and wants to dress risky.” As such, this season’s pieces strutted through like a slamming high- five! The bright and colourful palette, the sometimes eye-cross- ing prints and patterns, the new ingenious and honestly, ‘how did they do that and it stays on?’ cutouts are what the world needs right now - a super ‘kapow!’ to negativity and doubt! https://custo.com BARCELONA CUSTO
