The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2023 - Issue 33

bitecatwalk BRETON MALAN I have little to say about this season's usual- ly well-poised Malan Breton collection. The show was presented by This is Icon in con- junction with menswear designer Nathan Palmer’s SS23 collection ‘Perverse Demand’. However, de- spite blending the two lines, the whole line-up felt disjointed and a bit elementary in design and style. While one could see the attempts at using some retro and classical silhouettes in the evening gowns, like the placement of the mid-back trains and the layer- ing and draping of sheer fabrics accented by attached appliques, the show's theme needed to be added. Was this a collection of oddly paired prom and bridesmaid dresses with the odd “this is what I wore to work and now have to go from the office to an early dinner on a Tuesday”? I wasn't feeling this collection overall; I'm sad to report. However, a few pieces caught my eye. Look #6’s sheer turquoise suit jacket and capri pants were cute and current. Look #7’s muted metallic flare pants were an excellent re- interpreted basic. Finally, there was a sheer canary yellow jacket paired with an odd pair of what looked like patterned jacquard boxer shorts that were also a great pop of colour. www.malanbreton.com P resenting timeless and classic pieces that have been slightly altered to suit the stylish modern woman, De Fichier presented a small but carefully curated collec- tion this season. While different from what I call exciting or impressionable, the pieces showed detailed tailoring and skilled fitting techniques. The final dress was beautiful but not necessarily groundbreaking. www.de-fichier.com FASHION WEEK LONDON Spring/Summer 2023 FASHION SCOUT CHINA De Fichier De Fichier Malan Breton
