bitejewellery AU79 Fine Jewellery Cristina Lloyd experiences the Maltese Mediterranean with AU79 Fine Jewellery’s authentic pieces in 14-karat gold and gemstones. A mong the metal elements such as iron, copper, silver, mercury, lead, platinum and zinc, gold is characterised by its scientific element 79 and the symbol Au. The Anglo-Saxon name originates from the Latin word ‘aurum’ and derives from the Greek word Aurora, the golden goddess of the dawn. Its bright, slightly orange-yellow hue is dense, soft, malleable and ductile in its purest form. Gold has been used for coinage, jewellery and other arts through- out history. As such, it was a fitting name for Maltese designer Stephanie Seychell’s finely crafted genderless jewellery brand. Inspired and surrounded by the sea's natural beauty and the Mediterranean's unique textures, AU79 Fine Jewellery was born and raised on a tiny island. “The shade of gold we chose harks to the tones of the Mediterranean sand and rocks. Most of the pieces in our collection have a deep meaning in their design, often inspired by the history of the Mediterranean region or our families’ stories.” As Good As Gold
