bitewatches T ime never stops for the forward-thinking Japanese watch extraordinaire Citizen known globally for its uncompromising values for over 100 years. They became the first to create quartz crystal and titanium timepiec- es through technical precision, an innovative mindset, quality craftsmanship, and design excellence. Citizen was also an early pioneer in advocating for the environ- ment by launching the first light-powered watches with proprietary Eco-Drive technology in 1976. Its mission to create quality timepieces at superior val- ue allows the world’s citizens to enjoy every minute of their time. Citizen has a diverse portfolio of high-per- formance and eco-mindful watches ranging from pro- fessional-grade, sport-inspired designs with advanced functions to sophisticated, timeless silhouettes and collectables. They are also the official watchmaker for Disney, Marvel and Star Wars and have a presence at Disney Parks & Resorts worldwide. The brand has released innovative timepieces, such as a trio of eye-catching, powerful and colourful Promas- ter Diver Series watches in turquoise, orange and grey. Ecozilla presents two fresh new takes on the hardwear- ing Promaster Diver watches. Eco-Drive 365 comes with a new movement, innovative styles and 365 days of running time powered by clean energy. L Mae envi- ronmentally conscious sustainable watches reflect the beauty of our planet, and beautiful oceans inspire Pro- master Unite. Promaster Diver Series’ fresh-faced trio of vibrant col- our models advance the rich history of Citizen Diver timepieces in an exciting new way. In 1959, the brand launched Parawater, its first water-resistant watch that became a blueprint for future creative designs through innovative, professional-grade capabilities. Thirty years later, they introduced the Promaster line, a collection of professional timepieces split into Land, Air and Sea, from which the latest models derive. The three models are encased in a 44 mm raw, yellow gold or rose gold stainless steel case with a gradient blue, light grey or orange dial and mineral crystal glass. They have a bevelled-edge, unidirectional black bezel and aluminium insert showcasing the 60-minute div- ing scale and the guard-protected, screw-down crown placed at 4 o’clock. Each model is secured by a polyure- thane strap with an intuitive buckle closure to ensure a comfortable fit. On the dials are large legible indices, lume-filled hands to create a transparent display, and a large date aper- ture and sleek black numeral adjacent to the crown. The models are fitted with calibre E168, a time-tested, workhorse movement known for its reliability. It uses Eco-Drive technology from light exposure for energy to continuously and sustainably power the watches, elim- inating the need for battery changes. This light-driven source is compliant with an ISO water resistance of 200 metres. Ecozilla stands in the limelight of former models that paved the way for its arrival, such as the automatic 55 mm Promaster 1000 m Titanium Divers watch intro- duced in 2002, made from hardwearing titanium. Its ability to withstand 1,000 metres of water pressure made it a favourite of Citizen collectors and affection- ally nicknamed the ‘Autozilla’. Two years later, fans gave an Eco-Drive powered variant of the watch made in stainless steel and water resistant up to 300 metres the moniker ‘Ecozilla'. The latest 48 mm models are water resistant up to 300 metres and suitable for mixed gas diving, including casual snorkellers and professional underwater weld- ers. The first style features a stainless steel case, bezel, blue dial, and yellow polyurethane strap. At the same time, the second has a DLC-coated, stainless steel case, green dial and DLC unidirectional dive bezel, a tough, convex mineral crystal with an anti-reflective coating and a dark green polyurethane strap. Both have lumi- nous hands and indices, left-hand crowns, push-and- turn system and are powered by the Eco-Drive B873 calibre. Citizen continues its sustainable ethos with the limit- ed-edition Eco-Drive 365, inspired by the original Cit- izen Quartz EFA launched in 1973. It features a new E365 calibre that allows the watch to run for 365 days on a full charge, an updated dial with the latest manu- facturing techniques and lab-grown rubies echoing the indices of the original 1973 design.
