bitenewmusic P op chameleon Dorian Electra shows a sexier persona in the video for ‘Sodom & Gomor- rah’ directed by them and Weston Allen. The Texas-born LA-based singer is an ultimate pop futurist, shapeshifting musician, visual artist, fashionista, joker and internet philosopher. They have collaborated with the likes of Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, The Village People, Pussy Riot and Rebecca Black and working on a project examining the socio-political effects of internet culture and the rise of the parasocial relationship. Speaking about their latest track, the singer explained the concept behind the song. “Sodom & Gomorrah is the biblical story of two cities that were so sinful God destroyed them. The word Sodomy - derived from this story - has often been used to oppress queer people, so I wanted to reclaim it in a bratty, slutty, sexy song. Musically, I was inspired by the pop I grew up on (Brit- ney Spears, Missy Elliott) but with a modern twist and heavy guitars.” ‘Sodom&Gomorrah’ is a crunchy, guitar fuelled slice of alt-pop with a fun-to-watch video telling the story from the singer’s perspective. It reimagines the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah in a fantastic way evoking the legacy of pop icons past with a trashy, post-apocalyptic dystopia complete with whips, dance routines, and a touristy ‘I <3 SODOMY’ souvenir shop. Dorian’s music continues to blend various genres such as pop, metal, jazz, medieval, epic baroque, classical and EDM. DorianElectra Sodom & Gomorrah Image courtesy of Satellite-414 via LanceWilliams
