The Declaration in 2008, The Vault in 2009 and Braveheart in 2014. However, in May 2009, Irv Gotti officially released Ashanti from Murder Inc, saying the “relation- ship had run its course.” Later that year, she released her fifth studio album from her new label, Written Entertainment. Before and during her singing career, Ashanti starred in several films and television series. She was a student in the Harlem classroom in Malcolm X , played Kyra in Coach Carter, Dorothy Gale in The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz, and Betty in Resident Evil: Extinction . She appeared as herself in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and Dynasty and played Dionne Warwick in American Dreams, Lissa in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Stella in Unforgettable. Several years after her last album release, Ashanti returned with ‘Falling For You’, a song she co-wrote with musician and record producer, Bleu. The slightly dark-themed video directed by Jet Phynx shows a fed-up Ashanti seeking the guidance of a fortune-teller regarding her partner’s infidelity. She told Angie Martinez in an interview, “I have so many records; it’s ridiculous. The plan is we’re going to put out an EP or an album. Bleu and I are working on some stuff.” We look forward to hearing more of the multi-grammy-award-winner and sultry singer’s new music and album. It’s been a long time, Ashanti! http://ashantithisisme.com bitemusicceleb
