The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2023 - Issue 33

bitecatwalk ROBERTO DIZ K nown for his proficient sewing and tailoring skills, designer Roberto Diz has been a force to compete with in several fashion arenas since debuting his first collection in 2002. Bridal and luxurious limited-edition pret- a-porter couture are his forte, and his work has shown both locally in Spain and on international runways to great applaud. Much of his work also draws unique in- spiration from the human condition. From the cellular level to humanising fashion, he tries to translate this into including all people, all minorities, and all seeking enlightenment with self-affirmation and acceptance—heavy stuff, but a topic that desperately needs to be conveyed to the masses all the same. This season, Diz called upon artist Benja- min Bulnes again to help him create unique patterns and prints representing neuronal maps (think brain-firing neutrons) and bi- omechanical engineering on silk satins in bright teal blue and ruby red. I adore how he's blending biological studies of the hu- man mind with fashion - it goes hand in hand. We know what we want and how to present ourselves inwardly and outward- ly, so wouldn't we be inspired by a neuro pathway printed mini dress? While the collection this season did have a somewhat medical feel, with some of the fabrics of sheer Lycra looking more like colourful translucent latex, there were also some light-hearted pieces. The colour pal- ette was based around a foundation of inky blacks, dark cobalt and white, brilliant pops of bright pink, citrusy orange, and muted and vibrant neon greens. What I love about this current collection is the range! There were beautiful separates presented that could be easily absorbed and adapted into any casual wardrobe, but it also projected itself into reaching for the stars! These looks will undoubtedly drape influ- ential celebrities' bodies on the red carpet and at fabulous formal events. The remark- ably stunning coral rose pink gown was di- vinely draped around the beautiful model’s left shoulder in a wide swath of fabric, tied in the back with the reaming material, then softly flowing down the back. It had a gath- ered waist that ballooned into a volumi- nous bell skirt towards the show's conclu- sion; it was one I would cut my right arm off to wear! I'm dying to see this appear at the Oscars! https://victoriacoleccion.com/collections/ roberto-diz
