The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2022 - Issue 32
bitefashion DSQUARED2 P eace, love and harmony, baby. Let’s all manifest that mindset, and all will be well. That’s what Dean and Dan Caten hope for with this latest season’s collection from DSquared2, which was a nice compliment or continuation of the theme from last season’s SS22 collection. They took inspiration from the bohemian, hippy out- look by trying to create a sense of an organic natural lightheartedness that would bring a welcomed breath of ease to the industry at the mo- ment. The heaviness of objective reality has hit many for too long, so bring on the peasant skirts and funky prints. Known for their superb talent for layering various textures, fabrics and patterns, these master designers are experts at creating wearable sto- ries with their beautifully detailed yet understandable and somehow never overly fussy looks. DSquared2 presented beautiful apparel that told the in-depth tale of the wearer. As with any typical AW22 collec- tion, knitwear, wools and shearlings, cosy coats, mixes of faux furs, and pops of leather pieces worn with layered softer cotton and silks created a cocoon of warm luxury. But when the Caten twin brothers got a hold of these cooler-temp ma- terials, one can be sure their pieces won’t be your average cable knit jumper and lined leggings. Look #22 is the perfect example of what a hyped ‘sweater’ dress should be. In contrast, look #24 had a bit of just about everything, each item perfectly selected and styled to produce a wildly balanced ensemble in an overzealous play of patterns and tex- tures. The final look showcased one of the most beautiful and colour- ful blanket coats I’ve ever seen. www.dsquared2.com/gb
