The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2022 - Issue 32
bitecatwalk CONNOR A merican designer Conner Ives’ ‘Hudson River School’ AW22 col- lection had a casual wear meet so- phisticated theme with a blend of pastel, earth and primary colours. Mismatched boots, a glit- tering dress, and oversized white apparel with a large star print paired with pastel blue gloves that seemed to float as the model walked. It was an odd combination of styles and colours that didn’t have a particular theme. Perhaps Ives imagined these participants wearing con- trasting styles at this fantasy school. Although the designer has been in the indus- try for several years and worked on Rihanna’s brand Fenty, London Fashion Week was his first debut in the capital. The show drew inspi- ration from significant American archetypes such as the nostalgic butterfly clips, cropped graphic tees and shimmer skirts. Using satin bandanas with significantly large earrings and other accessories elevated the looks. Ives’ sig- nature piece was the brand tees reconstruct- ed into dresses. Amongst the models, we saw the beautiful Paloma Elsesser wearing a top that said,‘Just Say No’, reminiscing the war on drugs advertising campaign in the 1980s and early 1990s. The yellow thigh-length double-breasted coat with a matching flat cap, red boots and a green bag opened the show. You would expect to wear some of the clothing in the summer pa- rading along the beach or in sunny California. The palette was a mix of dark and light col- ours, demonstrating that winter is not always about wearing dull colours; you need to inject some bright hues into your wardrobe. The collection’s highlight was the hot red, crystal- lised dress with a side split and red boots. https://connerives.com IVES
