Nugnes 1920 announced Studio Dini Cataldi’s European Prix Versailles award win for curating its new atelier store. Jada Brookes learns about the transformation. bitelifestyle EUROPEAN PRIX VERSAILLES AWARD Nugnes 1920 x Studio Dini Cataldi I n 1920, Giuseppe Nugnes started his tailor’s shop in Puglia and gained a clientele of bankers, intellectuals, no- bility and business people. Over thirty years later, his two sons, Francesco and Anto- nio, opened a small haberdashery. In 1964, the business moved to Corso Vittorio Emanuele in the elegant and beautiful Palazzo Pugliese. Twenty-five years on, Giuseppe, known as Be- ppe, a talented young man and fashion enthu- siast, took over his grandfather’s atelier previ- ously nurtured by his father and uncle. His renewed enthusiasm helped open a store dedicated exclusively to women, restyled the men’s store and birthed the Nugnes Now Con- cept catered to young people. He embraced his family’s longstanding tailoring tradition and partnered with more prominent brands. Nugnes interpreted the forthcoming moods and the latest trends to reflect its timeless good taste before being proposed to the client. "We are couture tailors and create a personalised style, made to measure for every client.” Giuseppe and Studio Dini Cataldi collaborated to recreate the atelier, including a cosy living room uniting the bespoke lounge, the minimal globetrotter area and women’s fashion on the main floor. This ample space, a meeting place for the community, houses 250 internation- al brands. The new curation was awarded the prestigious European Prix Versailles award. It celebrates the best architectural and design projects to promote sustainability, accounting for its ecological, social and cultural impact. Nugnes reopened the doors of its majestic Palazzo Pugliese, an archetype of the 19th-cen- tury southern-Italian mansion in the heart of Trani, to recount an authentically Italian story of taste and beauty.
