bitefashion TRUFLAIR Giedre Jackyte spoke to bridal designer Miracle Folaranmi about her wed- ding dresses that see Disney princesses meet 21st-century fashion. BRIDAL A rt inspired bridal designer Miracle Folaranmi, founder of TruFlair Bridal, to create daring, luxurious and extravagant gowns for girls and women who wish to feel intensely feminine and powerful. Whether it’s the traditional Cinderella style or an elegant mermaid cut, TruFlair gowns are hand- made with luxurious glittering fabrics, beading, delicate lace and smooth satin. Thanks to her artistic side, every dress features acute attention to detail. Miracle would hand-stitch dresses for her dolls from old scarves as a child. How- ever, when she was older, she followed her parent’s advice to study Economics at university. But as they say, what is meant for you won’t pass you by. Eventually, the would-be designer rekindled her artistry passion while searching for the perfect wedding gown for her nuptials. She started sewing gowns for herself and her family, discovering self-taught techniques. “Fashion has always been a part of me,” she said, which she sees as art. “I dream, think, and breathe fashion; it is my way of life.” Her internship at a tailor store in Lagos, Nigeria, encouraged her to enrol at a professional fashion design academy to learn industry-standard fashion tech- niques and bridal couture. That same year, she established her design career, pre- senting her first bridal collection ‘Beyond Beautiful’ to the world the following year. She also completed an MBA in Interna- tional Fashion Management at Coventry University London to understand the global market and run a successful fash- ion business in London and worldwide. Her BSc in Economics helped her with the business side of the brand. Today, Miracle draws inspiration from the world around her and combines vintage, Afri- can, Egyptian, and European styles in the art for her designs. As a fashion designer, her priority and goal are to make sure her clients are happy and satisfied, “This gives me the drive and momentum to keep breaking boundaries”. The perk of this business is the flexibility to design without boundaries, “I treat fashion like art; every garment is built from a clean canvas. I allow my imagination and inspi- ration to run wild while designing.” Couture Romance Designer Profile
