GCDS (Giuliano Calza De- sign Studio) is an Italian newcomer quickly taking the fashion world for an epic ride into the future as a brand to watch! Having been on the global scene for five years since their first show at New York Fashion Week in 2017, this brother-led company is reimagining streetwear into a luxu- ry-driven, crafted line of ready-to- wear pieces. Together, Giuliano and Giordano Calza are reinventing fashion for the modern fashionista, taking the ex- pertise of Italian design and fine con- struction to the heights of uber-celeb- rity and style stardom. Beyoncé, the Kardashians, Dua Lipa, Serena Wil- liams, Bella Hadid and many more are flocking to GCDS for their cur- rent fashion fixes! This brand is pres- ently on point and was the first to put a runway show on the metaverse in 2020, which appeared on Dazed’s cover. That aside, their clothes are what had people excited. The brand’s signature colour is pink, but there never seems to be an actual set theme or rhythm to the collections, just an overall, all-consuming want to have fun with what one wears, to bring sexily and the excitement of getting dressed back. I adore the blending of the al- most costume-like pieces, such as those seen in look #6, where a sleeved bubble dress takes on the look of a giant tropical bird-like-creature that somehow managed to get a crafty tea cosy stuck on its head and has long, silky hair instead of feathers. Look #16 screams Harlequin Ro- mance book cover, but the leading heartthrob is in pastels! Look #19 is like an astronaut getting ready for a prom with look #36’s long and lean neon-pink-mesh-bodysuit-clad alien date! This collection is not for the faint of heart but for those looking to make a booming and pleasant state- ment, “Fashion is fun!” I cannot wait to get my hands on anything from this label. If my hands happen to find themselves in possession of the sheer black top with sequinned ribs fea- tured on look #33, I’d be tickled pink. https://gcds.com/uk-en
