Cornish Coastal is referenced by the halcyon days of Jade’s childhood in Cornwall, surrounded by beau- tiful beaches and rugged coastlines, where bedtime stories were peppered with tales of mermaids and other local folklore, with many of the rings in the collection named after historical mermaid sightings. Grain takes inspiration from the English countryside with its organic charm created by casting oats, quinoa and poppy seeds in recycled sterling silver, using a granulation technique. The story of Moti is inspired by a mermaid born on the shores of a tropical island, the love child of a beautiful Pacific Ocean princess and a dashing Cornish pirate. Each piece embodies its unique and romantic entanglement, created in solid recycled sterling silver and 18-carat gold vermeil granules to mimic the look of barnacles.There is also the Timeless and Bespoke collection created in solid 18-carat gold and platinum that allows for a lifetime affiliation with your jewellery. Woodland mirrors the ethereal magnificence of the woods, the deep grooves and raw curves of tree bark. The slender and elegant rings and bangles can be worn on their own or stacked.The Diminutive col- lection offers witty and poignant snapshots of Jade’s people-watching days in London such as witnessing a lover’s tiff, a passionate embrace or friends gossiping. The delicate and diminutive figures were modelled in wax using 1930’s pre-WWII miniature scale railway people and cast in recycled silver. It is also available in 18-carat gold vermeil. To Jade, fashion must be sustainable. “In the world we now live in, sustainability must be a priority when making purchases. Therefore, I only use recycled sterling silver, 18-carat gold vermeil and fully recycla- ble packaging, making us a fully sustainable jewellery brand.” Her design signature is 100% granulation and big bold gemstones. She describes London’s unique fashion as very mixed, mostly colourful with a clash of vintage designs. When it comes to constructing a piece, Jade says she usually dreams about the design before she draws it on paper. “My subconscious must be designing new collections without my knowledge,” she joked. “Then they manifest in dreams. My bestselling Giselle ring and necklace both came to me in dreams,” she further explained.“From the initial dreams/sketching, design and making, it takes around a month to com- plete a design.” In essence, she prefers to construct her designs.“My workshop is my sanctuary where I pop on an Audible book and get engrossed in my designs.” Following a poll on her social media where she asked her follow- ers which gemstones they would like to see more of, 96% of them answered green gemstones so this is currently her favourite colour to work with. She also loves working with recycled sterling silver and 18-carat gold.“I love the richness of the 18-carat gold colour.” The award-winning jewellery designer added three national awards to her accolades last year.“I won the Emerging Jewellery Brand of the Year at the UK Jew- ellery Awards, Creative Industries Entrepreneur of the Year at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, and the Best Jewellery Store with Muddy Stilettos.” However, her biggest accomplishment is being a role model to her daughters. “When they say they want to make jewellery like mummy when they grow up, I feel like I’ve won the lottery.” Jade revealed she is in awe of fellow jewellery designer Alex Monroe and the wonderful business model he has created. She would also love to create a jewellery piece for Kate Middleton.To prepare for a fashion shoot or shoot, she keeps a to-do list to ensure she doesn’t forget anything. She would like to be stocked in all seven of the biggest UK department stores and would advise aspiring jewellery designers to “be original and think outside the box.
